Weekly Summary-Week 6

Hello!

I’m not going to say it. I’m not going to say that this semester could not be passing more slowly. I’m not going to say it, because I think I’ve said that in every weekly summary post. This was probably the most fun I’ve had this semester. I think that the design elements forced me to look at all of this in a different light, and also just have a little more fun in the assignments then usual.

I started off the week by writing up my thoughts on the reading assignments here. I think that I did a pretty good job reviewing them in my write-up, though there was a lot of information there. I think that I did a good job of grasping it, as is evident in my work this week. The first assignment I did was #358, where I created a picture with four pictures inside of it which show the main theme of a movie. Am I allowed to tell you what the movie is now? Well it’s Star Wars, duh! Where Luke Skywalker loses his hand? C’mon, you’re killing me. I think that this assignment went really well, I was proud of it.

The second assignment I did was #2217. This assignment was about my character, Kai, and asked to show an outfit he might usually wear in a day. I think that again, this assignment went well and I did what I should have for it. The only thing I wish is that there was someway to online create clothes, so that I didn’t have to use these that I found online on Google or other clothing websites. The third assignment I did was a five star project that asked the student to create a hero, using the website Heromachine. I enjoyed this challenge, and used the time to recreate my character. The machine was a little tricky for me to utilize, though in the end I think I got a good product out of it. If I had to do it again I think I would try to figure out how to change the background, to be plain instead of that weird forest thing that I couldn’t figure out how to change. Though I guess it could also contribute to Kai’s theme of a cold, alien world?

My daily creates went well this week;

Particularly I think that this one was the funniest. As you can see we were asked to picture ourselves as classic TV stars. Obviously it was not going to be simple for me to put myself over a typically caucasian character’s face. So I had to get creative and went to the cartoons! Once I found one I use a free online too called, “Face swap online” to create this effect. Anybody remember this show? Face swapping might now be my go-to for daily creates..

My last daily create was this, c’mon man do you know nothing about marshmallow!:

I also did the design blitz assignment, this week which I thought was fun. Which reminds me, please give me a follow on instagram @justzaying7! Anyway I thought I did a good job on this assignment, and it definitely helped me to think about design in a different way. I learned a lot going through the process of carrying my camera around looking for different design elements.

In summary I think that this week went well and that I learned a lot. I liked that there was not as high of a volume of work this week, which allowed me to slow down and really try and learn the information for what it is. Thanks for reading!
